ANCIENT TOWN - YanCheng
China has a long history. Changzhou is a city witnessed changes of thousands of years. The city preserves an ancient town in the Spring and Autumn Period of China 2500 years ago. Named YanCheng Ruin, the prototype of city was bounded by three rounds of land and moat in order to protect attack from outside. The center of the twon was for living, religious, and group activity. The intermediate zone was for housing, and the outer zone was for aggreculture. Unearthed many artifects many years ago, this unique heritage conveys a great amount of information on the evolution of humans living on land. This mystical ruin is about 7km from the city center of ChangZhou.
OLD TOWN
ChangZhou is a place where you can still see some old town appearance, before the modernisation rapidly refreshes the whole city. Old city wall, water gate to the Hangzhou-Beijing Grand Canal, and old bridges and small alleys are interesting trajectory of ChangZhou from old to new.
NEW CITY
Recent ChangZhou in China economic boom has demonstrated fast and unique urban development. It is upgraded to a prefecture level city with 4.6 million population by including LiYang city (county level), Jingtan, Wujin, Xinbei, Zhonglou, and Tianning districts. ChangZhou is a city open the fast bus system (BRT, bus rapid transportation). It is also ranked as the International Garden City.
